Overview
Dating Profile is designed with your privacy as a priority. Your dating profile content stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account. It is never sent to servers we operate, and we have no way to read it.
Data Collection
We do not collect any personal data. All information you enter into the app—including bios, interests, job titles, locations, and prompt answers—is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and, if you are signed in to iCloud, in your private iCloud database. The only information that reaches us is the anonymous usage statistics described below, which never include your profile content.
Data Storage
- All profile data is stored on your device
- Data persists in your device's local storage
- App settings are stored locally using UserDefaults
- No servers of ours, no accounts, no external databases
- You can require Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to open the app (Settings › Privacy)
iCloud Sync
When you are signed in to iCloud, the app keeps a copy of your profiles in your private iCloud database so it is backed up and appears on your other iPhones. This uses Apple's CloudKit; the data belongs to your Apple ID, and we cannot access it. Your bio, interests, job title, city, education, and prompt answers are stored as encrypted fields, which means they are end-to-end encrypted in iCloud regardless of your other iCloud settings. Profile names (for example "Hinge"), record identifiers, dates, and the order of your prompts are standard CloudKit fields: iCloud encrypts them in transit and at rest, but they are end-to-end encrypted only if you turn on Advanced Data Protection.
To stop syncing, turn off Dating Profile under Settings › your name › iCloud › Apps Using iCloud. Your data stays on the device.
Photo Check
Photo Check looks at the photo or photos you choose (up to six) and checks them for things that tend to hold a profile photo back: whether your face is in focus and well lit, whether it is big enough to recognize and whether it is just you, whether the image is big enough to look sharp, and, for a set, how the photos work together, including whether two of them look alike. These are automatic checks, not a judgement of how you look. All of this runs on your device using Apple's on-device image frameworks. Your photos are never uploaded and nothing from them is stored, and the app asks for no access to your photo library: you pick the photos to check. The anonymous usage statistics described below record only that a check ran, how many photos were in it, and how many warnings it raised; never a photo or any value read from one.
Face Data
Photo Check uses Apple's Vision framework, on your device, to find faces in the photos you choose. This section describes everything the app does with that information.
- What is collected: for each face Vision finds in a photo you picked, a rectangle marking where the face is, and Vision's capture-quality score for it (how clearly the face was captured: focus, lighting and angle). The app uses these to count the people in the photo (leaving out small faces in the background), to measure how big the largest face is, to measure how bright and how sharp the photo is inside that rectangle, and, in a set, to suggest which photo to lead with. That is how it tells you whether your face is clear, in shadow, too small, or one of several in a group shot. The app does not identify or recognize anyone and does not compare faces between photos. To notice two near-identical photos in a set, it compares the photos as a whole, not the faces in them. It does not read facial landmarks, expressions or any other biometric data.
- Where it is stored: only in your device's memory, while the photos are shown in Photo Check. It is never written to your device's storage, to iCloud, or anywhere else.
- How long it is kept: until you remove or replace the photos, or the app is closed. It is then discarded. Nothing about faces is kept between uses.
- Sharing: face data is never uploaded and never shared with anyone, including us and any third party. The anonymous usage statistics contain no face data: only that a check ran, how many photos were in it, and how many warnings it raised.
- Deletion: because nothing is kept, there is nothing to delete. Removing the photos or closing the app removes it.
- Face ID: if you turn on App Lock, Face ID is handled entirely by iOS. The app is told only whether you were recognized; it never receives or stores any Face ID data.
Dating Profile Keyboard
The optional Dating Profile keyboard pastes your saved bio and prompt answers into other apps. It reads a copy of your profiles from a container that only this app and its keyboard can access. iOS requires "Allow Full Access" for any keyboard that reads its app's data; that is the only reason the keyboard asks for it. The keyboard has no network access, does not record what you type, and never sends anything anywhere. It keeps a count of how many times you inserted something; the app includes that number, and nothing else from the keyboard, in the anonymous usage statistics described below.
Siri and Shortcuts
The app offers Shortcuts and Siri phrases such as "Copy my bio from Dating Profile". The copy shortcuts read the same on-device copy of your profiles the keyboard uses and place the text on your clipboard; they run without opening the app and stop working while App Lock is engaged, the same as the keyboard. "Write an Opener" and "Open Profile" only open the app. Nothing is sent anywhere. The app counts how many times shortcuts ran and includes that number in the usage statistics.
AI Features
Dating Profile uses Apple Intelligence for AI-powered rewrite suggestions. This processing:
- Occurs entirely on your device
- Is handled by Apple's FoundationModels framework
- Never sends your content to external AI services
- Requires compatible hardware (iPhone 15 Pro or newer, iPad/Mac with Apple Silicon)
Analytics
The app uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage statistics—for example, that a bio was rewritten or a prompt was added. Each signal names the event and, where relevant, a category such as the tone or dating app chosen, a count, or an error code (never the error's text). Alongside it, TelemetryDeck's software sends the app version, iOS version, device model, and language, plus a per-device identifier that is hashed with a salt on your device before it is sent, so it cannot be turned back into your device's identity. Signals never include your bio, answers, interests, photos, or anything you type. Like any server that receives a request, TelemetryDeck's servers see your IP address in order to deliver it; under their policy they do not store it. We use the statistics only to understand which features are used, and you can turn them off at any time in the app under Settings › Usage Statistics; nothing is sent while they are off. See TelemetryDeck's privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
The app is free and has no in-app purchases. Other than the anonymous analytics described above and Apple's own iCloud, it does not integrate with any advertising, purchase, or tracking services.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data, and your profile content is never transmitted to us or to any third party. When you use the copy feature to move content to dating apps, you manually copy text to your clipboard—no automatic transmission occurs. If Universal Clipboard is on, iOS may make your clipboard available on your other Apple devices for a short time; that is an Apple feature under your control.
Data Deletion
Delete your data at any time by:
- Clearing or editing your bio, interests, and prompts within the app
- Uninstalling the app (removes all data on that device)
- Deleting the app's iCloud data under Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage
Your Rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on request: what you write is under your control on your devices and in your iCloud account, and the usage statistics cannot be connected to you. If you believe we do hold personal data about you, or have any privacy question, contact us and we will respond.
Children's Privacy
This app is not intended for users under 18 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy periodically. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
